Platform Docs

Technical trust documents.

Architecture, platform boundaries, and privacy details for reviewers who want the deeper view. Rooted Reality connects three layers: a companion that surfaces household signals on-device, practice drills that build awareness before real-world exposure, and parent-approved access controls that bridge the two.

Current launch covers Windows/macOS desktop with the browser companion. iPhone/iPad coverage is not part of this release.

Three-Layer System

Each layer has a clear role and connects to the next.

Layer 1

Desktop Companion

See your digital posture on-device, not inside a cloud dashboard.

Runs locally on Windows or macOS. Captures foreground app shifts and browser activity via the companion extension, then surfaces posture signals: checking loops, social drift, context switching, and late-night pressure. Guardian block rules are enforced locally without a cloud relay.

Layer 2

Readiness Simulation

Build awareness in safe conditions before real-world exposure.

A hosted simulation layer runs interactive scenarios around manipulation, social pressure, and financial trap patterns. Users practice recognizing these patterns without real-world consequences. The simulation produces a readiness result that can be reviewed by a guardian.

Layer 3

Guardian Permit

Supervised progression from simulation to real-world conditions.

When a simulation result arrives, a parent or guardian reviews the evidence and issues a permit that adjusts real-world access and visibility. The desktop applies those permit conditions locally while keeping oversight disclosed and bounded.

Desktop Companion

Posture signals that stay on-device by design.

Foreground app and browser capture

Records which apps are active and which browser hostnames are visited. Nothing beyond hostname level - no content, no query strings, and no form inputs.

Posture signals, not just totals

Translates raw event sequences into readable signals: checking loops, social drift, context switching, and late-night pressure. Totals miss how a session changed shape - posture signals catch that.

Browser companion

Shares hostname context with the desktop app via a local WebSocket connection. The launch scope is desktop plus browser companion, not mobile parity.

Local enforcement

Block rules and guardian controls are applied locally on the machine. The goal is a durable local setup, not a cloud-routed monitoring loop.

Readiness Simulation

Practice recognizing pressure before it becomes a real-world situation.

Manipulative AI scenarios

Chat simulations that mirror AI companion and engagement-loop patterns, with branching that responds to user choices.

Social pressure dynamics

Peer pressure, group identity, and validation-seeking patterns modeled as interactive conversation flows.

Financial and risk traps

Sunk-cost traps, FOMO-driven decisions, and high-pressure close scenarios without real financial stakes.

Simulation results are summarized as a readiness record that a guardian can review. No raw conversation is transmitted. The summary contains signal categories only - where the user applied friction and where they moved through a scenario without it.

Guardian Permit

Evidence-backed progression from simulation to real-world conditions.

Review readiness evidence

A parent or guardian reviews the simulation result before issuing a permit.

Issue a supervised permit

Permit conditions can define apps, sites, time windows, and posture thresholds that trigger follow-up.

Desktop applies permit conditions

The local desktop layer carries permit conditions forward without requiring a cloud monitoring relay.

Visible, not hidden

The person under the permit sees what the permit covers. Guardian oversight is disclosed, bounded, and adjustable as readiness improves.

Account And Launch

Current launch posture and account flow.

Do I need an account to start?

Public plans can be reviewed without an account. During early access, households are onboarded through a guided setup path, and account creation happens after access is approved.

How do I get access?

Plans are publicly listed for transparency. Early access is request-based while self-serve stays off until code signing, legal, and payment approval land.

What if I am offline?

The desktop app caches license status locally and continues operating for a limited offline window. Posture data stays local regardless of connectivity.

Are team or Pro plans public yet?

No. Team plans are not public, and Pro remains internal only at launch. Family is public but still founder-led for the early households.
