Mississippi's child-exploitation law reaches AI-generated and digitally altered depictions of minors. The 2024 "Walker Montgomery Protecting Children Online Act" (HB 1126, signed April 30, 2024, effective July 1, 2024) amended Code Section 97-5-31 to define "sexually explicit conduct" as "actual, morphed or simulated" and added a "morphed image" category covering any "computer or computer-generated image or picture, whether made or produced by electronic, mechanical, simulated or other means" modified to make an identifiable minor appear in sexual conduct.
