On March 17, 2026, Arizona AG Kris Mayes filed a 20-count criminal information against KalshiEX LLC and Kalshi Trading LLC in Maricopa County Superior Court, including four counts of election wagering and 16 counts of unlawful betting and wagering - the first criminal prosecution ever brought against a CFTC-registered prediction-market operator. A federal judge entered a permanent injunction in May 2026 preventing state enforcement.
